Diagnosis: Intraventricular arachnoid cyst
- 14-month-old girl
- Acutely unwell after a fall
- Bulging fontanelle, sunseting eyes, bradycardia
- Macrocephaly which had not been investigated
- CT scan: hydrocephalus, cystic lesion in right lateral ventricle
- Endoscopic fenestration
- Shunt placed afterwards
EQUIPMENT USED
- Storz Lotta endoscope
- Bipolar coagulation electrode
- Sharp click-line scissors
SURGICAL TIPS
- Cyst wall shrunk with bipolar diathermy
- As big a fenestration as possible
