Craniopharyngioma

• 12-year-old boy
• Presentation MR scan: large tumour in the suprasellar region extending in the 3rd ventricle, with variable contrast uptake, and hydrocephalus
• The Endoscopic CUSA was used to remove the tumour completely thourgh the endoscope

EQUIPMENT USED

• Storz Gaab Endoscope
• Soering endoscopic Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator
• Medtronic neuro-navigation

SURGICAL TIPS

• Use endoscope with a large enough central channel to accept the endoscopic CUSA (e.g. Storz Gaab)
• Use navigation to plan and execute the trajectory of access to the ventricle
• Enter the 3rd ventricle through the larger lateral ventricle
